774 Melbourne - Lisa Miller on the Conversation Hour with John Faine

Making cover albums cool

Singer Songwriter and onetime Neil Young back-up dancer Lisa Miller sang "Traction In The Rain" live in the studio from her new album Car Tape 2, a nostalgic compilation experience that harks back to the days of the mixed tape and aims to encapulate the quintessential road trip experience.
Marc Collin, producer and arranger of Nouvelle Vague, fresh off the plane from Paris also creates quirky modern covers - and he revealed that he's not ever sought permission from the artists he covers to use their material! It's the kind of cheek that a only french accent excuses!
Namila Benson, Broadcaster, DJ and braid devotee joined Jon Faine in the studio as co-host.

Radio National - The Music Show with Andrew Ford

Lisa Miller and Shane O'Mara make a welcome return to the show to perform some songs from their brand new release Car Tape 2.
Live performances:
Traction in the Rain (Comp. David Crosby)
It'll Never Happen Again (Comp. Tim Hardin)

Radio National - Daily Planet with Lucky Oceans

Lisa Miller's Car Tape 2 has the Melbourne singer covering an eclectic mix of pop songs, each given an innovative, often counter-intuitive arrangement by guitarist and co-producer Shane O'Mara.

In this, the sequel to her 2002 release, Lisa continues the concept of the mixtape for a road trip by covering songs by Curtis Mayfield, Tim Hardin, Neil Young, Ryan Adams, David Crosby, Francoise Hardy and more.

(No live songs on this one but several songs from Car Tape 2 interspersed with some curious comments from Mr. Oceans.)

ABC Queensland - Afternoons with Georgia Stynes

Finally this one from Queensland, in which Georgia Stynes seems stuck on the notion that the album is called not Car Tape 2 but "Car Sales 2" ... maybe she's been shopping for a second-hand ute on the internet recently. This interview features (yet another) live performance of Traction and She Wants To Play Hearts. Right click/Control click here to download.

There's another good one from Tassie but not available yet, perhaps owing to the fact it was done on Julia Thursday. Let us know if you want to get hold of it and we'll see what we can do...

Happy Downloading Customers!
